The film features Captain Vijayakanth in the role of a bank officer named Mahendran who is transferred to the branch of Village Nilakottai to sort out the perplexing situation of bank fraud carried on by a big shot Marthandan (Debutant Ramki). Over there, he happens to find out that Marthandan has borrowed loan of worth Rs.250 million in the name of villagers. Mahendran and his colleagues (played by Sriman and Ilavarasu) approach Marthandan to return the money that he had illegally borrowed. When refused, he assures of arresting Marthandan and the very next day, Mahendran and his colleagues are pushed down in shock for the entire bank is burnt down and they are dismissed. A pair of twins boys; separated at a young age grow up in different environments. One grows in Chennai and becomes an officer (Vasudevan) in a private investigative agency and the other grows in Dindukkal becomes a typical rustic young man (Vetrivel). The city bred Surya charms Swathi (Asin) through his professional ethics. Rustic Vel is engaged in the bloody tussle with Sakara Pandi (Kalabhavan Mani); who has deep rooted enmity against the family. When Vasu' mother sends him to a village to look for her lost son; Vasu encounters Vel and his foster family. The family refuses to send Vel to his original family. Vasu; understanding their unadulterated affection towards Vel; agrees to give up his claim. But he has one request. Vel should go to Chennai pretending as Vasu and live with his mother. Vasu in turn would act as Vel in the village. Vel accepts. Vasu continues Vel's struggle against powerful Sakara Pandi but with a different approach. Emtan (Nassar) runs a provision shop in a village. His son Krishna (Bharath), a student of poultry science, helps him in the shop. A strict father Emtan is always at his son's back. His strict ways of dealing his son leaves an uncomfortable scene in the house. Vadivelu (Krishna's uncle) is the only solace for him in the house. Krishna meets his childhood crush Janani (Gopika), daughter of his uncle (Shanmugarajan). Both their families are at loggerheads. A death in their family brings them together. Unfortunately Krishna and Janani are caught kissing which again leaves a split in the family. While Emtan drives his son out, Janani also walks away with him. Kaalaiyan (Sundar C) is a simple person and the best Jallikattu (Bullfight) player in his village. His world revolves around his four younger brothers. The antagonist is Varadharajan (Suman), a Zamindar from the neighbouring village who lives an extravagant lifestyle. His close aide is a Transgender Saroja (Vivek). Varadharajan's sister (Sindhu Tolani) falls for the macho Kaalaiyan when he wins a Jallikattu. In the meantime, Bhuvana (Sneha), on the run, after Varadharajan falls for her charm and tries to molest her, takes refuge in Kaalaiyan's house. However, Varadharajan decides to marry his sister to Kaalaiyan with an eye on his land. On the day of marriage, when Kaalaiyan comes to know that the bride wants to split the bond between the brothers, he calls off the marriage. Kaalaiyan takes a liking for Bhuvana and the inevitable happens , romance blossoms. What follows is predictable but there comes a surprise in the form of Saroja in the climax. more»
