When Ashok Mehra loses his wife to a complicated childbirth, he accepts fate and continues to flourish in his successful business even as his young daughter Mini grows up, missing out on a mother s love. As fate would have it, a struggling couple comes to depend on him for their expenses when the wife, Radha who is very similar in her looks to Ashok s late wife is appointed as Mini s governess. Radha s invalid husband develops feelings of extreme jealousy in the meantime and the film progresses to a dramatic yet beautiful climax when one of the two men would make the ultimate sacrifice.

Vandana and Arun fall in love with the instant they meet. On a trip to a Shiv temple, they get married in an impromptu ceremony in front of God.
