Varghese (N. Govindan Kutty) is a planter who lives with his wife Elizabeth (Savitri) and daughter Beena (Sujatha) in the tea estates owned by him. Following his son's demise, Varghese starts drinking in his depression and entices his wife into it. Elizabeth becomes an alcoholic. Varghese dies and Elizabeth appoints Baby (Salam), who is her faithful servant Antony's (Abbas) son, as the tea estates manager. Baby and Beena are classmates. Baby is corrupt by nature, but Beena, who is in love with him, is confident of changing him. Elizabeth goes from bad to worse. In a drunken stupor she even gets into a physical relationship with Baby and becomes pregnant. Beena comes to know of this. Out of shame and repentance, Elizabeth commits suicide. Beena rushes to shoot Baby. But even before she could do so Baby kills himself. Beena becomes a nun. more»

Suresh and Anuradha are classmates. At first they fight each other. Eventually they fall for each. But Anu's father Madhavan Thampi doesn't approve their relation. He sets Anu's marriage with Mohan Kumar. Anu reveals about her love to Mohan. After convinced by Mohan Madhavan Thampi agrees for Suresh and Anu's marriage. Knowing about the marriage Suresh goes joyfully but get into an accident and dies. Shattered Anu lives a lonely life. Later it's discovered that she is pregnant with Suresh's child. After the delivery Thampi gives the kid to his driver and tells Anu that the child was stillborn. Anu's life shattered again. Eventually Mohan finds out the truth and decides to find the child. He finds the child, Appukuttan lives with the driver Kumara Pilla, his wife and kids. Kumara Pilla loves Appukuttan as his son but his wife hates the child. Mohan gain back Appukuttan and takes back to his mother. Meantime Anu attempts to suicide. At hospital Mohan tells Appukuttan to call his mother back. Vinod (Master Raghu) and Anitha (Devi) are classmates in school and have their own private problems. Vinod's stepmother wants to seduce him, and Anitha is an illegitimate child that her mother never wanted. On a rainy day they take shelter in a train wagon, which starts moving before they could get out and stops next in a forest area a long way away from home. There, they find a couple of recluses a widow and an ex-army officer living their own lives and willing to accept them. As they were in early puberty they live like normal children.
