The story starts with the joining of a new English Teacher Rahul Prakash Udyavar (Shahid Kapoor) in Swaraswati Vidya Mandir school, situated in the outskirts of Mumbai Suburbs. Kaali lives a middle class life with his sister Seeta in a shanty house. He works at a small train station nearby with an engineer called Vinay.
