Siva Rao is a local puppeteer who along with his family wanders through different villages performing the art for his survival. When they land up in Tirunelveli, a rich man Chelladurai decides to support them for the sake of his young grandson Jothi s love for the art. Thereafter, good times come knocking for Siva and his family. His grand-daughter Thamizharasi is enrolled in a local school, where she grows up, and works hard to pass out with flying colors.
