Saidai Sathya (Sundar C) has little respect for the law. He parks his car in the middle of the road and makes trouble for other vehicles. A traffic policeman, Kandadasamy (Vivek), ignores that violation because he is a close friend of Sathya. A social activist and lawyer, Udhayamoorthy (Vijayakumar), drags both of them to court for obstructing traffic and causing a nuisance. Instead of sentencing them, the court sends them to the Madurai Gandhi Museum for help, where they meet a college student named Meenakshi (Anjali). After he is discharged, Sathya starts a job as a henchman. VBR (Manivannan), a villainous former minister, sends him to steal a confidential file containing vital evidence on the death of the collector Sukanya at Udayamoorthy's place. While he is stealing the file, Udayamoorthy is killed by Sathya. While dying, Udayamoorthy blesses Sathya by saying "Vazhga Valamudan" (Long Live). These last words haunt Sathya, and, filled with remorse, he vows to carry on Udayamoorthy's good work. He gathers evidence to discover the murderer of Sukanya, even as VBR burns the documents to destroy the evidence. Sathya continues with his task of exposing VBR, and adopts Gandhian principles of nonviolence and peaceful satyagraha. Ezhumalai (Napolean) is a police inspector who vows to avenge the death of his brother, Udhayamoorthy. He thinks that Sathya had killed him, although he later finds out that he didn't. Sathya sits near the Gandhi statue and follows his examples of non-violence, confident that VBR will be arrested. VBR surrenders himself to police and is arrested. The story revolves around a man (played by Dr. Raj) who grows up believing that women cannot be trusted, all due to his experiences of a troubled childhood after his parents failed marriage and his father s suicide. The incident creates a deep wound in his mind and he suspects every woman he comes across to have a questionable character. This leads to him walking out of his marriage that was fixed with Malavika, who plays a double role for the first time in her career in this movie. Years later, they happen to meet each other and share their experiences in life. Malavika is now a Deputy Commissioner in the police force, and has a daughter (Malavika again) while Raj has become the Chief Secretary. Malavika wants to get to know Raj s family well and during her visit along with her daughter to Raj s house happens to see certain very disturbing and then highly confusing sights. She smells a rat and says so to Raj who blames all the bad occurrences on a ghost that supposedly haunts a bungalow that they lived in and how that ghost still continued to haunt that place terrifying people in its vicinity at very particular times every day. Being a police officer, Malavika is not fully convinced and wants to get to the bottom of the matter. She just about begins to get her teeth into the matter when the evil powers at work bring about her death after a rather fearsome encounter with ghostly creatures. Now, it is left to Malavika, the daughter to find out the truth. Now enters another character claiming to be the lover of Raj s daughter. His revelations make matters far more complicated and confusing. The matter is thrown wide open and the jigsaw becomes harder to piece together. They discover the death of far more people than they had even thought of and trace it all down to the haunted bungalow. The police receive a complaint against Jeevan (Annamalai) that he is an imposter who has tricked four women into marrying him and cheated them. The police are on the hunt for him. The bus in which he is escaping meets with an accident. When Jeevan is undergoing treatment in hospital for the injuries, he is arrested by the police and produced in court. Four women cheated by him: Malavika (Priya), Jyothirmayi (Ammu Kutti), Keerthi Chawla (Radha) and Namitha (Monica), take the witness stand and tell each of their experiences with Jeevan. Vetrivel (Vijay (actor) is a race car driver who lives with his large family in Chennai. His father, Singamuthu (Manivannan) had gone to Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh for work at a colliery and never returned, prompting Vetrivel and his family to think he is dead. Vetrivel comes to know that a gentleman named Koccha (Suman) owes his father a huge sum of money. Finding that Koccha is based in Malaysia, Vetrivel and his friend Pons (Vivek) fly to Malaysia, as Kuruvi, the trade jargon for low-level contraband carriers. He steps into the group at a time when internal rivalry and problems are surfacing in Koccha's family. Koccha's darling sister Devi (Trisha Krishnan) has refused to marry the former's business associate Konda Reddy's (Ashish Vidyarthi) brother, the boy approved by her family members. Irritated and preoccupied, nobody wants to devote any time or attention to resolve Vetrivel's problem. Vetrivel is abused, harassed, suffers more ill-treatment and is thrown out of Koccha's place without any help rendered. These callous actions enrage the young man. Totally enraged, with a do-or-die attitude, deciding to get his work done no matter who gets hurt, Vetri becomes a veritable suicide machine and launches into a terrific scuffle with the dangerous gang. Determined to return only after the issue is solved to his satisfaction, motivated by an urge to reveal the truth, Vetrivel conceals himself in Koccha's palace-like residence. He returns to India after stealing a large diamond that was in Koccha's possession. Devi follows Vetrivel and comes to India too, having fallen in love with Vetrivel. Knowing that Vetrivel has taken his diamond Koccha and his gang visit Vetrivel's house and threaten his family. After confronting Koccha, Vetrivel comes to know that his father is not dead, but is being held as bonded labor along with many innocent people in Kadapa. Singamuthu had discovered diamonds at the collieries but refused to allow Koccha and Konda Reddy to illegally mine the diamonds, saying that the diamonds should go to the government. He had been held in Kadapa since. Vetrivel goes to Kadapa and discovers a slave camp run by Koccha and Konda Reddy at the collieries, where a womanising rowdy sheeter, Kadapa Mohan, is torturing the inmates. Vetrivel first encounters Koccha in Kadapa and throws him into a moving train, paralysing him. Then he single-handedly takes on Kadapa Mohan and Konda Reddy, killing them. When the paralysed Koccha sees Konda Reddy's dead body, he recovers and attempts to shoot Vetrivel, but is then arrested by a special task force led by Raj (Nassar). Singamuthu and the others who were imprisoned in the slave camp are finally freed. more»
