Chaurahen - Crossroads is an evocative and poignant composition consisting of three separate stories set in three different cities in contemporary India. Each revolves around love, life, and loss. The first story enters straight into the heart of Farooq (Ankur Khanna) and Ira's (Soha Ali Khan) relationship in Mumbai. Farooq remains troubled by his own inability to let go of the memories of his dead parents in his ancestral which he continues to occupy and use as the disturbing muse for his own writing. So deeply ensconced in being haunted by his own past, Farooq appears incapable of fully living in the present, to the extent to which he proves powerless in responding to the possibility of sharing true love with Ira.\n\nIn Kolkatta, the second vignette revolves around Dr. Siddharth Bose (Victor Banerjee), a wealthy Calcutta surgeon in his fifties. Dr. Bose's is stuck in the rut of a loveless, pitiful, and seemingly pointless marriage which he attempts to rattle by embarking on a quick, nervous and uncomfortable affair with a much younger woman. Ugrasena Maharaja (Gummadi) is king of Malava, he has a daughter Rupa. According to astrologer's prediction, Rupa will marry an ordinary person. Ugrasena wants to change the gods wish and starts doing penance. King sends the wise people to bring the probable boy Chandrasena who is going to marry his daughter and order to kill him. Soldiers take the boy to the forest but due to the divine grace boy escapes death. The boy's mother Annapurna (Malathi) also reaches the forest both of them get shelter in a saint's Ashram. Years roll by, Chandrasena (N. T. Rama Rao) grows up with and qualifies in all fields. Ugrasena is in a happy feeling that he has killed the boy. One day grown up Rupa (Jayasri) goes to the forest for hunting where she meets Chandrasena and both love each other. Ugrasena announces sports competition in the capital where Chandrasena wins and king honors him. Rupa meets him in her palace and Chandrasena gets caught by soldiers. Chandrasena's mother pleads king to excuse his son but in vain. Ugrasena now realizes that Chandrasena is none other than the boy whom he thought died. Ugrasena orders to put Chandrasena in a cellar where demons are there. Chandrasena kills the demon and reaches Rupa. While they are escaping soldiers chase them and they enter into a deadly house from where no one will come back. Hence the soldiers return and inform the king about this. King announces that the person who brings his daughter back will get a huge sum of gold. Takku (Relangi) & Tikku (Ramana Reddy) start to bring princess after hearing the announcement. In that death house, Rupa is caught by an enchanter (Shobhan Babu) and takes her to their Queen Gandharva Rani (Mohana). She orders Chandrasena to bring the musical tree from Chambala Island ruled by wizard Kanakaksha (Mukkamala) to get back Rupa. After a lot of effort Chandrasena reaches the Island where Kanakaksha's daughter Champa (Girija) falls in love with Chandrasena. He gets her into his trap, achieves the musical tree and relives Rupa. Meanwhile, Kanakaksha makes Chandrasena as garland and takes him back. Rupa with no help is caught by Takku and Tikku. Kanakaksha orders Chandrasena to marry his daughter Champa but he denies. So, he keeps him in prison and starts torturing. Rupa somehow escapes from Takku & Tikku and goes back to death house sits on the musical tree and reaches Chamba Island. With Rupa's help, Chandrasena escapes from prison eliminates Kanakaksha and blasts the island. Both of them reach back to Malava kingdom when Ugrasena also understands that no one can change the fortune and agrees to their marriage. Azhagesan (Sathyaraj), a mentally retarded man, loves his cousin Nandini (Prema), a college student. Azhagesan works hard in Neelakandan's house for few coins. Neelakandan (Pithamagan Mahadevan), the village landlord, has a son Sekhar (Manoj K. Jayan) who is a womaniser. Chandra, Nandini's college professor, falls in love with Nandini, he proposes to marry her and she accepts. Sekhar, who has an eye on Nandini, is humiliated and slapped by Nandini. Sekhar evicts Nandini and Nandini's grandmother (Manorama) from their house. Her marriage is immediately stopped and her grandmother falls ill. Azhagesan accommodates them in his house. Nandini's grandmother dies and Nandini is raped by Sekhar. Nandini begins to feel sympathy for Sekhar, she aborts with Neelakandan's daughter support. Neelakandan requests Nandini to come in his house and they can prepare for the marriage but she refuses and Azhagesan humiliates Neelakandan. Sekhar decides to kill Azhagesan. First, he kills Azhagesan's family friend Govinda (Delhi Ganesh). Neelakandan dies because of his illness. Sekhar's henchmen beats Azhagesan and Nandini kills Sekhar. Aadhavan (Surya) is a professional killer/hit-man who works for Ibrahim Rowther (Sayaji Shinde) who is also his father along with Tharani (Anand Babu)- who is his brother. He is contracted by Abdul Kulkarny (Rahul Dev) to kill prominent Judge Subramaniam (Murali)(who is presently working on child kidnapping and murder cases in the eastern Indian belt for sale of their organs to foreign countries) -but fails to shoot him at the first attempt. He promises to get the judge, angry with himself for having missed such a thing and uses the Judge's innocent servant Bannerjee (Vadivelu) to get into the house as Murugan, Bannerjee's brother in law (He locks up Bannerjee's actual brother in law Murugan in a ship and threatens Bannerjee with his name all the time). Slowly Murugan/Aadhavan- begins to win over the members of the Judge's household- the Judge's mother (B.Saroja Devi), his other relatives and finally his niece- Thara(Nayantara). He tries to assassinate the judge in the middle of the night and also by planting a bomb in the van by which the judge is travelling to Darjeeling- but both attempts fail. In Darjeeling, Aadhavan is handed over a guitar belonging to the madcap, wanna be musician, would be husband of Thara- Ilaiman (Ramesh Khanna) by Thara to hide away. He plants a mobile bomb in the guitar and places it in one of the cars which soon explodes. Thara is now suspicious but Murugan informs her in secret that he is in fact the Judge's runaway son Madhavan who ran away from home when he was only ten years old. Thara soon informs all the members of the household except the Judge that Murugan is Madhavan- although in private Muruguan tells Bannerjee that he was only joking and that he is not Madhavan. However on Thara's birthday- Aadhavan shows that he is indeed Madhavan- when in a flashback it is shown that- young Madhavan carried a gift for Thara where a bomb had been planted by Madhavan's friend's mother as an act of revenge (Madhavan's father had put her husband in jail). Though Thara survives, her mother (Anu Hassan) opens the box and is killed along with her husband in the bomb explosion. Madhavan runs away from home- after stealing a gun from the cops, accidentally shooting his father and killing his friend's mother who planted the bomb in the toy. Meanwhile- Abdul Kulkarny is fed up with the attempts of Aadhavan and Ibrahim Rowther and decides to play his cards in another way. He persuades Ibrahim and his gang to surrender to the police and make a confession regarding Aadhavan. When Police ACP (Riaz Khan) confronts Aadhavan and is about to have him hauled off - Aadhavan takes the Judge hostage and also Thara (after asking Thara to bring the Laptop and the Memory stick where the entire information about the culprits involved in the child kidnappings and murder case is stored in). In the meanwhile the police commissioner arrives and makes the confession. Aadhavan is actually indeed Madhavan- the Judge's runaway son. The police had caught him when he was making his escape after his attempt to kill the Judge had failed. It was then that he made his confession of being the Judge's son. The Police ask him to go back to the house to protect his father over a twenty four hour period everyday.This information is relayed to the Judge who is tearfully grateful to his son Meanwhile- Abdul Kulkarny attacks the vechicle in which the Judge, his son and Thara are travelling and a fight ensues where the good guys win and Kulkarny is killed. And the movie ends with a recovered Madhavan and Banerjee tells that he bought assistants to maintain the house who are his brother-in-laws and everyone tells what the story starts again. more»
