A tragic story depicting and highlighting the disastrous destiny of the ethnic, eternal Indian woman 'Kangkabotir Ghat' is about the banks of river Ganga in the village of Atashi from where Sati Kangkabati, the great wife of Mr. Mukherji an artist, committed suicide in an eternal ritual fashion to save her ailing and dying husband. The legend here emphasises that if the wife sacrifices her life in the waters of Ganga, then the husband would revive. After Kangka bati commits suicide, the eccentric Mr. Mukherjee turns mad out of shock and grief and leaves the village with their infant daughter Uma who is latter abducted by the shrewd escort Chameli. Uma grous up under Chameli's parentage, under the name of Sheela, while all the years the insane Mukherjee goes searching for Uma, not realizing that his daughter is in front of his very own eyes. Sheela alias Uma fall in love with Pradip but abandons ? has when a misunderstanding consciously created by Chameli arises. Later a pregnant Uma leaves Chameli and starts residing separately with Mr. Mukherjee which ? Pradip marries for the second time. His second wife is Mrinaal. Co-incidentally Pradip, Mrinal, the rest are also from the same village of Atashi and thus respect Kangkabati's sacrifice immensely. Pradip and Uma meet after 7 long years through Pradip-Uma's enstranged son. Pradip is shocked to see Uma's poverty & his own son doing hawkery in the lanes of Kolkata. After returning to Atashi, he falls severely sick and ultimately marches towards death. Meanwhile in Kolkata, amidst all formalist. The real truth is revealed by Nandua, an ally of Chameli and Mr. Mukherjee and Uma realizes that they are the father daughter in reality. The father daughter duo gets the news about Pradip's sickness. Uma runs to save the life of her husband who is now somebody else's husband. She meets her rival Mrinaal with almost compassion, keeps her son at her refuge and follows the same path of her mother Kangkabati to save the life of her long lost love. In the end Uma commits suicide in the waters of Ganga with a lamp on her head. The frustrated father Mukherji wails in vain and the couple - Mrinal Pradip unite with Uma's son as their legitimate and only heir.

Kankal is a social horror drama which shows how a spirit can fulfil its desire with its intense power. The story begins with Abhay being killed by a skeleton and police come for the inspection. Dr. Sanyal takes us back to the story where Tarala got married to Rattan, a rich man. But Tarala s sister-in-law s brother, Abhay was in love with Tarala whom Tarala didn t like for his bad attitude and lower education. So to take the revenge, Abhay married Rattan s sister. By moulding Rattan, Abhay took all his wealth and tried to rape Tarala. Though Rattan came to save her, he was being driven out by Abhay. In this situation Tarala passes away unknowingly and Abhay tried to hide her dead body by throwing it in the river. Rattan unable to find his wife became mad and roamed around in search for her. At last he came under the observation of Dr. Sanyal and they finally found Tarala s skeleton. When by co-incidence, Abhay came for his x-ray to Dr. Sanyal, Tarala took his life in the form of skeleton and thus punished him for his wickedness.

Savitramma (Bhanumathi Ramakrishna), a wealthy woman living in Delhi, visits her village after so many years and meets her old family friends Sitaramaraju (Mallikarjuna Rao) and family. During his stay at the conservative, traditional Indian household, she gets to know Sitaramaraju s daughter, Ganga (Lakshmi), who shares her love for the village and its culture. Savitramma asks Sitaramaraju to promise Ganga as a bride for his westernized grandson, Srinivasa Prasad / Chintu (Viren Chaudhury). He is convinced that Ganga will be not only a perfect bride but the way treasured Indian values are revived and passed on in her westernized family. Sitaramaraju s family accepts the proposal. Savitramma knows he will have a tough time trying to convince her grandson to marry or even meet Ganga. She asks her foster son, Sagar / Airport (Jagapathi Babu) to help his plan along. Sagar comes to village ahead of Chintu to set the stage for him to meet Ganga, when Chintu arrives, he also acts offensively; sometimes intentionally, and sometimes because he has no idea of anything Indians consider rude or inappropriate. But Sagar, despite his own attraction to Ganga, smoothens the way out. In his determination to help the marriage come to pass, Sagar deceives Ganga about Chintu's character and habits; he assures her that Chintu is a "nice guy"; he also covers up for Chintu s bad habits. Chintu and Ganga agree to the wedding. After the engagement, the families agrees that Ganga should come to Delhi before the wedding. Ganga arrives in Delhi and is hurt to hear her traditional dress and "foreign" manners despised by Chintu's snacky father & mother at a party in her new home. In her new surroundings, her only friend and confidant is Sagar, with whom she begins to form a special bond. Little by little Ganga realizes that Chintu isn't the person Sagar portrayed him to be. He smokes, gets drunk and acts like a bully. Later, Ganga is shocked to discover pictures of Chintu with his girlfriends that clearly show he has had a sexual relationship with them. When she asks Chintu regarding this he misbehaves with Ganga and Sagar comes to her rescue, revolts on Chintu. Chintu reverses the situation before Savitramma that Sagar is trying to marry that s why he is creating misunderstandings between them. Savitramma sends Sagar from the house to their Agra branch. Ganga decides not to marry Chintu and go back to her village. Chintu makes a plan he promises Ganga to send back, before that he will take her to Agra to show her favorite spot Taj Mahal, after reaching there Chintu makes a rape attempt on Ganga however she escapes. Sagar comes to her protection, both of them meet near Taj Mahal and he decides to take her back to the village. Before they reach there, Chintu and his parents create a new story to Ganga s family members that Ganga eloped with Sagar. Ganga s family members beat Sagar very hard and again surrender Ganga to Chintu. At the same time Savitramma arrives, reveals all the truth and she disowns her family members and accepts Sagar as her heir. Now, she decides to go ahead with Ganga s marriage with Sagar.
