A group of frustrated youngsters decides to kidnap the famous Malayalam actor Prem Nazir from one of the film shooting sets. The captured Prem Nazir is then taken to a dilapidated home in a dense forest. The kidnappers treat Prem Nazir with due respect and treats him in the best possible manner, given the place where they are put up. One kidnapper (Sreenivasan) comes from an upper-caste Hindu family, and his father worked as the local temple oracle. Though highly educated he does not find a good job. Another gang member (Vijay Menon) has a very troubled childhood during which his parents were murdered and he had to live as a domestic helper of the murderer. The kidnap of Prem Nazir is to express their frusturation against the cruel society. Kerala is now totally shocked to hear about this news. Old actresses Ragini and Kumari are seen watching old movies in which Prem Nazir acted with them. New movie releases (including Richard Attenborough's Gandhi) has been suspended and old Prem Nazir movies are now played in the theatres. For the movie distributors this is a quick way to make some extra revenue. The producer of the latest movie in which Prem Nazir was acting, is in a very bad state. Only two more scenes in his movie were yet to be shot. In desperation he requests Prem Nazir's brother Prem Nawaz to act as a dummy, so that he can somehow complete the movie. The producer, named Innocent, pleads with Prem Nawaz that the movie would get completed, and he can release the movie and generate some quick money. His idea is to release the movie before Prem Nazir is rescued. The political scene in the state is in a worse condition. The ruling government of the day is accused of being lax on investigations. The party in the opposition feels that government did not provide adequate protection to Prem Nazir because, Nazir sympathised with the party in opposition. Demands are made asking the Home Minister (Thilakan) to resign. The Home Minister flatly refuses and tries to retain his position. He feels there are international agencies out there involved in the kidnapping and so assistance from the central government is required. Meanwhile the state police also mobilizes large numbers of police officers from the armed reserve and armed police battalions for a combing operation. At the same time, Prem Nazir, who by then had become quite friendly with the kidnappers, manage to convince them about the stupidity of their actions. He advices them to surrender. They soon plan to escape of the forest with a plan to surrender when they are ambushed by a police party. The police whose only aim was to rescue Prem Nazir uses excessive force to capture the kidnappers. They are beaten all the way to the police vehicles and one of them is shot. A dejected Prem Nazir looks on helplessly as he knows that the kidnappers are not hardcore criminals, but he cannot convince the police and also the government leadership and the people. more»

Kunjalikutty (Siddique) gets both a visa to Dubai and a job offer at a school managed by his father's friend, Malappuram Hajiyar (Madhu) in Malappuram at the same time. His father refuses to let him go to Dubai and wants him to take the teaching job. So Kunjalikutty sends his friend Joji (Mukesh), a handsome and well-educated Hindu, in his place to the school, and goes to Dubai without his parents knowledge. Malappuram Hajiyar is a bold and religious man having a huge public appeal, with no tolerance towards deception. Thus people approach him with awe. Hajiyar's code of conduct scares Joji to the core that he has to conceal his own identity while living as Kunjalikkutty's impostor. A hilariously hostile relationship develops between Joji and Aliyar, who is the physical education teacher, and later, Joji's roommate. Joji soon gets into the good books of Hajiyar, while Aliyar remains stuck in the rut of being too slack for a teacher, for instance, coming late for the school. Things do not go easy for Joji. He nearly blew his cover at times, which triggers Aliyar's suspicion. On one such occasion, he is accidentally confronted by Gouri (Maathu), who hails from a reputed Hindu family. The story enters a serious turn, when Kunjalikutty shows up, telling Joji that he has become a victim of a visa scam run by Jafer Khan (Rizabawa), who now targets Kunjalikutty for extermination. The story pivots around the mysterious death of Raja Vamana Varma, the king of a small city-state in Kerala. A huge bronze statue of the king murders several people with a sword. It is believed that the ghost of the king enters the statue and commits the murders. The statue attempts to murder the queen, Gayathri Devi, and her five-year-old son. The queen escapes and the prince runs away from the palace.She shifts to the annex of the palace. Years roll by. The government appoints anthropologist Dr. Menon (K.P. Ummer) to investigate the murders in and around the palace. Menon comes to the palace with his daughter Sindhu (Jayabharathi) and his assistant Krishnankutty (Adoor Bhasi) to investigate the mystery. The ghost murders Menon. Sindhu decides to stay back in the palace to solve the mystery behind the murders by the king s ghost . The ghost also murders a police officer appointed for the investigation. Detective officers Rajendran (Prem Nazir) and Gupta (Bahadur) are sent by the Central Government for the investigation. Rajendran centres his investigation on Hotel Ding Mona, owned by a Chinese woman Kochang Farooka (Meena). Hotel dancer Julie (Sadhana), receptionist Charlie (Kaduvakkulam Antony), a regular visitor at to the hotel Sardar Garnayal Singh (Jose Prakash) is the prime suspects in the mystery behind the murders. Rajendran falls in love with Sindhu. Rajendran s lookalike and brother, Shekhar, comes to the hotel and joins the suspects in the murder case. And several twists and turns in the investigation unravel the facts behind the mysteries around the palace.It turns out that the palace manager Kurup (Sankaradi) and the queen s faithful servant Kochu Paru (Meena) are the real culprits. Their aim is to unearth treasures gold, gems and diamonds hidden in the palace by the king s faithful servant Dinesh Chandran (Muthiah). Kochu Paru disguised as Kochang Farooka and Kurup disguised as an Arab were implementing their plan to find the hidden treasure. Dinesh Chandran, held captive by them does not reveal where the treasure is hidden.Rajendran succeeds in solving the mystery and it turns out that he is none other than the prince who ran away from the palace years ago. The queen identifies him by the scar on his chest. It is revealed that Shekhar, Rajendran s lookalike brother, was in fact Rajendran himself. It was all a part of his plan to crack the mystery murders. Kurup and his men murdered the king and the ghost was Kurup himself. Kurup committed the murders by getting into a bronze mould identical to the statue.The dancer Julie is none other than Vimala Gupta, Rajendran s assistant Gupta s wife. She took up the job at the hotel, which was the culprits hangout, in order to uncover their plans. The culprits get arrested and Rajendran marries Sindhu. more»
