Brahmhdutt (Dilip Kumar), Premchand (Shafi Inamdar) and Mushtaq Ali Khan (Anupam Kher) have been the closest of friends. Against his wishes, Brahmhdutt's daughter Sonu marries a poor man Indrajeet Sabharwal, who is already married to Radhika and has a son Vijay, from the latter. Vijay takes off from home and grows up to be a dreaded Don in the city (Govinda). Indrajeet is given the post of a manager in a steel factory owned by Brahmhdutt and Premchand. Indrajeet first exterminates Premchand and indicts Brahmhdutt for the murder. Brahmhdutt is packed off to prison. Indrajeet now takes charge of Brahmhdutt's business empire and throws the latter's wife Sujata on to the streets. Not satisfied with the ill-gotten wealth, Indrajeet now wants to marry Premchand's only daughter and legal heiress Mohini (Madhuri Dixit) in order to usurp more wealth, but when she spurns him, he hires Vijay to wipe out her existence, little knowing that they are in love with each other. Brahmhdutt, in the meantime, completes his term in jail and on release sets about to reform Vijay. Ex-underworld don Zakkir Ali Hussein (Mohanlal), after giving up violence, is settled peacefully in the suburbs of Kochi. It was under the strong influence of his foster father, Bappu Haji Mustafa (Anupam Kher), that he left Mumbai. An unsuccessful assassination attempt on Haji Mustafa in Mumbai by Raman Naik, an underworld don ignites old wounds in Zakir. He, despite repeated pleas from Haji Mustafa and Ilanthaloor Rama Varma (Babu Namboothiri), a father like figure, sets out to Mumbai along with his trusted lieutenant Hamid Plavilakandi Mather, alias Malayalees (Cochin Haneefa). With the help of his friend Arjun (Biju Menon), Zakeer kills down Raman Naik and reaches back in Kochi. On his way back, at Kochi, he meets up with Maya Mary Kurien (Aishwarya), Asst. Commissioner of Police, who slowly starts developing a crush on him. Zakir Hussein is visited by Balaraman (Shammi Thilakan), a liquor baron and ex-MP, who warns Zakkir of dire consequences if he continues to interfere in the Mumbai crime world. He also attempts to woo Zakir, but the latter refuses to bow down, sending strong warning to Balaraman and his group. Balaraman, along with Devadevan Nambiar, alias DD (Vijayaraghavan), and Arun Naik, the brother of Raman Naik in Mumbai, is planning to finish off Zakir Hussein and Haji Mustafa to regain the lost turf in Mumbai. They are supported by Lahayil Vakkachan (N. F. Varghese), the tainted state home minister. Joseph Madachery, the IG of police conducts a raid at Haji Mustafa's poor home on behalf of Vakachan, and beats up Rama Varma Thirumulpad brutally, but the sudden arrival of Zakir saves him. Joseph is severely beaten by Zakir in full public presence, which infuriates Balaraman and DD, who try to demoralize Zakir by publishing fabricated stories about his relationship with ACP Maya Kurein and inmates of Haji Mustafa's poor home. Lahayil Vakachan tries to create a truce between Zakir and Balaraman, but fails miserably. This leads to a series of problems, including the arrest of Jaganathan, a close buddy of Zakir, on false narcotic drug charges. Jaganathan is killed in police custody. Balaraman and DD kill Rama Varma Thirumulpad, which prompts Zakir to take the law in his own hands. At a public gathering while addressing thousands of party workers, Zakir Hussein enters by duping police and kills Balaraman, DD and Lahayil Vakkachan. more»

Laxmikant Kabadiya aka LK (Anupam Kher) is one of India's richest industrialists. His conglomerate is on the verge of a 5000 crore IPO that should make them one of the largest companies in the country. LK's family can't stop salivating at the thought of all that money. Unfortunately for all of them on the night before the IPO opens, LK dies. The family is distraught and horrified as now no one will buy their shares. So, on the advice of their family guru, the family decides to hide the death of LK for a period of two days until the shares are all sold out. However, to make matters worse, every time they're ready to announce LK's death, fate intervenes forcing them to keep his death hidden for another couple of days. This results in them having to announce the death of a fictitious friend or a relative of LK's; which means generating dead bodies and worse, getting the dead LK to make appearances at these funerals. more»
