A story of a young girl in pursuit of her dream of becoming big in the fashion industry, Gul comes to Mumbai from Jaiper to joins Vivek's company. Soon, she complains to him about Adi, her senior, who seeks sexual favours from her for accepting her design submissions. It's the story of a fastidious king Balbir Singh (Ashok Kumar) of Himmatpur whose stern, high handed behaviour leads to a breakdown in communication with his four children; eldest daughter Hemalata (Nanda), younger daughter Ashalata (Tanuja) and sons Pratap (Rohit Kumar) and Rajendra (Deven Verma).
