Ganesh (Narain) is the slum boy who drives an auto to support his family. Bhuvana is the neglected daughter of a rich man and is in search of true love. Bhuvana (Deepa) is drawn to Ganesh's honesty and good heart. She confesses her love to him but he turns her away saying that a rich girl like her would never be able to live a life of poverty with him. Bhuvana tells him that she will show him she can do it and comes to Ganesh's house with just the clothes on her self. As Bhuvana and Ganesh share a happy love and understanding, life is all roses till a storm disrupts their happiness. Bhuvana meets with an accident and fights for her life. Doctors say nothing but a heart transplant could save her. The hero has neither heart nor money for the operation. Ganesh is unable to bear the thought of a life without Bhuvana. He is so feverish in his thoughts he decides to donate his own heart to her. In a scene Ganesh is seen whispering to her unconscious and bedridden in the hospital that he is one of the few luckiest who sacrifice their heart for their lover. As it's against medical ethics the doctor who treats Bhuvana takes a strong objection to Ganesh fanatic thoughts. But Ganesh is so adamant in his demand that he takes a revolver and thrusts its barrel into his mouth and declares that he is going to kill himself right on, unless doctor is willing to transplant his heart to Bhuvana. With no other option the doctor agrees. Then Ganesh is seen sitting on the bed of the hospital relishing the beautiful moments he spent with Bhuvana and slowly he puts the barrel of the revolver on his head and presses the trigger. Aalavandhar (Nassar) a corrupt politician who holds the post as Education minister and wants to become the chief minister. He is supported by his sons-in-law, Sathya (Charan Raj) ex-IPS Officer who runs a finance company and Ilamaran (Ponvannan) IAS officer, the district collector. With the idea of his in-laws, Aalavandhar tries to disturb peace in state and make situation against the CM. Muthazhagu (Sarath Kumar) an honest youth wing leader of the same ruling party learns and opposes the move of his father and he stands by and for the people. Sathya, Ilamaran and Aalavandhar allocates a land space in a village for a cool drink company. The village is rich in land water and the people oppose for the governments move against them. But these corrupt personalities issue an order for the start of the factory. Muthazhagu tries to meet the collector (Ilamaran) with the people of the locality and fails to get a reason for it. So he moves on to the court and with the court's order he gets a stay for the project. In order to save and work for the people he plans to contest in the elections as an independent candidate. He stands opposite his father Aalavandhar. He wins the elections and extends his support to the party and gets a place in the ministry. He takes charge of the high profile department as Home Minister. Muthazhagu commands and passes orders to all the departments to work for the welfare of the public and he would take care of all the other issues within the departments. He threatens the CM and takes orders for effective governance. Aalavandhar gets irritated by the moves of Muthazhagu and discusses the same with his in-laws. Sathya plans to wipe him off. This brings Aalavandhar to realize his misdoings in the past and meets Muthazhagu and confesses his mistake and asks him to return to their home. Muthazhagu accepts to return to their home along with his wife Gauri (Karthika Mathew). On an official call he goes to Delhi. Aalavandhar meets up in an accident and passes away. Muthazagu's mom thinks Muthazagu killed his dad and bans him from the house. Muthazaghu finds that Sathya was the mastermind for the murder as his dad (Nassar) said to him about the public confession of their crimes. Muthazaghu kills his brother-in-law in the climax. more»

Saidai Sathya (Sundar C) has little respect for the law. He parks his car in the middle of the road and makes trouble for other vehicles. A traffic policeman, Kandadasamy (Vivek), ignores that violation because he is a close friend of Sathya. A social activist and lawyer, Udhayamoorthy (Vijayakumar), drags both of them to court for obstructing traffic and causing a nuisance. Instead of sentencing them, the court sends them to the Madurai Gandhi Museum for help, where they meet a college student named Meenakshi (Anjali). After he is discharged, Sathya starts a job as a henchman. VBR (Manivannan), a villainous former minister, sends him to steal a confidential file containing vital evidence on the death of the collector Sukanya at Udayamoorthy's place. While he is stealing the file, Udayamoorthy is killed by Sathya. While dying, Udayamoorthy blesses Sathya by saying "Vazhga Valamudan" (Long Live). These last words haunt Sathya, and, filled with remorse, he vows to carry on Udayamoorthy's good work. He gathers evidence to discover the murderer of Sukanya, even as VBR burns the documents to destroy the evidence. Sathya continues with his task of exposing VBR, and adopts Gandhian principles of nonviolence and peaceful satyagraha. Ezhumalai (Napolean) is a police inspector who vows to avenge the death of his brother, Udhayamoorthy. He thinks that Sathya had killed him, although he later finds out that he didn't. Sathya sits near the Gandhi statue and follows his examples of non-violence, confident that VBR will be arrested. VBR surrenders himself to police and is arrested. Shanmugham (Jeevan) comes to Chennai with his mother in search of his father (Raj Kapoor). When they get to the place, they see him living with another wife. In a hussle, he kills this old wife and sends this boy outside to beg. He comes out with dead mother and an auto driver (Chandrasekar) helps with all he has to cremate the body and gives some money and asks him to go back to his own city. Shanmugham wanted to read and become a great man. But he gets caught with the corrupt police guys and was used for their jobs (which involved murder). So when he grows up, he becomes a big rowdy by the name of Thotta (bullet). The highly corrupt police officer DCP Murugavel (Sampath Kumar) also uses him for a lot of encounters for which he takes credit and gets promoted to commissioner level. In one incident where he is asked to put acid on a girl Nalina's (Priyamani) face, he finds that girl to be the auto driver's daughter itself in her house. He helps that family, which is in poverty, with lot of gifts and also loves her. Nalina's aim is to become a police officer and she tells this to Shanmugham. As he has commissioner influence, he promises to get her the job. For this he kills a minister who is a big rival of the chief minister (Livingston) at the instance of Murugavel. But when Nalina goes to Murugavel for the job, the latter insists that she have sex with him. When Shanmugham finds out what happened, he and Murugavel part ways. Shanmugham has a friend Giri, who is also a rowdy, but gets him married to a nice girl Gauri (Mallika). She wants to separate him from this rowdy group and get settled, for which she tries not to send him for their encounters. After much thought, Shanmugham lets them go separately. But Murugavel kills Giri in an encounter. Prabhakar (Saranraj), a CBI officer, wants to get Shanmugham alive, whereas Murugavel wants him killed, otherwise he would be in deep trouble as he was the one who made Shanmugham a rowdy after all. How Shanmugham overpowers this duo and whether Nalina becomes a police officer forms the climax of the story. more»
