Shekhara Menon (Thilakan) is retired income tax officer from Mumbai and has now settled in a remote village in Kerala. He owns some land and a house where he and his three daughters live together and lead a calm, silent and happy life. Menon owns a smaller house adjacent to his own which is given for rent, and his source of income other than agricultural income. Mr. Menon's Pension from service has been blocked due to some unclear issues. Hareendran (Mammootty) is a struggling small-time contractor and comes in as a new tenant to the rented house. Hareendran is constantly put under unwanted troubles by his aide Balachandran (Sudheesh), who convinces Hareendran to help people in trouble. His experience with Balachandran has made Hareendran a selfish man and he presently is least concerned about other people's problems around him. But the things take a change after Menon goes absconding leaving three daughters alone in the house. Hareendran the selfish tenant quickly decides to vacate the house to avoid unwanted troubles. Rajdhani Express is the story of Keshav, an errand boy for an arms trafficker. Peter D'Souza lives in a small town in India. He is an idealistic and honest young man and wants to serve his country by joining the army. He enlists himself and soon undergoes vigorous training under the hands of Major Chauhan (Nana Patekar). After the training, Peter and a group of commandos are assigned to combat terrorists who have hijacked a bus full of passengers. The commandos daringly rescue the passengers, however, Peter is gravely wounded and loses his leg. He is honorably discharged from the army and goes home to help his father run a small corner store. Subsequently, Major Chauhan receives an invitation to attend the marriage of Peter with his long-time girlfriend, Shirley (Madhuri Dixit), which he decides to accept. Upon arrival in the town, Chauhan finds out that marriage is no more happening as Peter is dead. Chauhan is further shocked to find out that Peter's death was a homicide, as enraged gangsters who were unable to extort money from him killed Peter.
