Sai Ram is an auto driver with a spirited personality. His new roommate Pratap is an easy-going guy with a beautiful wife and a kid. Sai Ram is surprised to find Pratap to be so passive about situations in life. Especially, when his wife gets molested, Pratap doesn t react. On the other hand, an ex-MLA Janardhan is creating terror in the city with his criminal activities. The police department is unable to control the menace. Mahendranath (Bharat Bhushan) is a rich and lonely old man with a smarmy new manager Dilip Singh (Prem Chopra). Mahendranath had a much younger brother Rajen (the annoying kid from Fakira) - a wilful brat who left home one day, never to be heard of again. Instead of heaving a sigh of "good riddance", Mahendranath keeps hoping Rajen will return. Taking advantage of the old man's hopes, Dilip hires an unemployed youth (Raza Murad), to impersonate the lost-and-now-grown-up Rajen. Mahendranath happily hands over all his property to "Rajen" and is promptly murdered by Prem. "Rajen" himself is bumped off later.Things get more complicated with new twists and thrills at every turn. Someone is sending Dilip threatening letters about Mahendranath's murder. Advocate Raja Shekaram (N. T. Kamala tries to protect Krishna from these quarrels. Kamala's father saves 1 lakh rupees with Nagaraju (Nagabhushanam), the landlord of their village. One day when Kamala goes to Nagaraju's house for collecting her money he asks her to come some other day to collect the amount, on her way back to her home she witnesses a murder done by Nagaraju's acolyte creating fear in her. Meanwhile, Rajashekaram gets into trouble with Nagaraju regarding some land issue on behalf of the villagers and also helps his brother Raghava (Sobhan Babu) to marry without his permission which irritates him. When Kamala goes again to collect her money from Nagaraju, he warns her that he will take revenge against her husband. On hearing this Krishna, who accompanies her gets angry and warns Nagaraju. Angered at this, Nagaraju puts up the false case on Krishna accusing of beating him in his house and surprisingly Kamala also admits to it.
