Based in Chennai, plainclothes police officer Pugazh slays Raka, a male wanted by Interpol, during the Shri Ganesh Visarjan. This news alerts his associates, some of who become alert, while others relieved, and Pugazh is instructed to proceed with his next target. The latter then meets with Janavi and both eventually fall in love. She then lets him speak with her wealthy Munich-based father, J.D., who instructs them to come home. Once there, he displays his disapproval for Pugazh. Unable to get close to his target, his stay is prolonged, prompting his mother to also travel there. A pair of twins boys; separated at a young age grow up in different environments. One grows in Chennai and becomes an officer (Vasudevan) in a private investigative agency and the other grows in Dindukkal becomes a typical rustic young man (Vetrivel). The city bred Surya charms Swathi (Asin) through his professional ethics. Rustic Vel is engaged in the bloody tussle with Sakara Pandi (Kalabhavan Mani); who has deep rooted enmity against the family. When Vasu' mother sends him to a village to look for her lost son; Vasu encounters Vel and his foster family. The family refuses to send Vel to his original family. Vasu; understanding their unadulterated affection towards Vel; agrees to give up his claim. But he has one request. Vel should go to Chennai pretending as Vasu and live with his mother. Vasu in turn would act as Vel in the village. Vel accepts. Vasu continues Vel's struggle against powerful Sakara Pandi but with a different approach. Inba (Shaam) is a rough character who works under Priya's brother (Arun Pandiyan) as a body guard of Priya (Sneha). Priya is an usurious girl, spending most of the time with her friends and absenting herself from the college several times. Hence Arun Pandiyan employa Inba, his faithful servant to guard Priya's activities. Priya insults him several times since she was not interested in somebody guarding her all the time. However at one point of the story Priya is saved by Inba from a gang that is to murder her. The incident develops love in Priya's heart. Priya exposes her love to Inba where Inba refuses it. In the meantime, Arun Pandiyan comes to know about the love affair and opposes it by beating up Inba. Priya chases Inba to prove her true love for him. Finally, Inba reveals the true reason for not accepting her love opening up a flash back. The flash back opens with Inba's school days. Inba has been a genius boy scoring top marks in his lessons. Jyothi (Poornitha) who is jealous upon him plays with him in the name of love and cheats him. This makes Inba lose concentration in his studies and Jyothi then dies. Inba is then sent for jail for the murder which he was at no fault. Returning back he finds his mother and sister helpless and does some work to earn them food and then joins Arun Pandian's Group. He concludes that he is not interested in falling in the hands of rich girl's false love and leave his family unguarded again.
