My Husband's Wife is a film about an Indian Sikh family settled abroad after the grandfather Kartar Singh (Prem Chopra) migrated there forty years ago. He started his career as taxi driver and when his son grew up, his business flourished with revenue running into millions. However, he remained attached to his country India. His culture, sentiments and emotions made him get his son married to a Punjabi girl (Rati Agnihotri), who gave birth to a beautiful son Pawan, but unfortunately, Kartar Singh's son dies young. Kartar Singh gives the best of education and amenities to his grandson, but Pawan turns out to be a Playboy even though he respects his grandfather as well as his mother. The culture of the west hypnotizes Pawan. Seeing the circumstances, Kartar Singh decides to get his grandson married to an Indian Punjabi girl (Rakhi Vohra), thinking that a girl from India will show him the path to living life as an Indian. The grandson starts handling the family business with sincerity and does well. But his wife from Punjab shakes him up in terms of his preference for western culture. He goes back to his earlier girlfriend (Alisa Khan) and starts drinking heavily. Bandit, played by Udaykumar kidnaps the pregnant wife of City Cop, K S Ashwath. Cop's wife delivers a baby boy under the Bandit's custody. Bandit's daughter, though has a chaste upbringing, is always in awe of robbers and thieves, admiring them for their dare-devilry. Due to his first robbery, Son meets his biological father in a fare and has an unexplained attraction towards him. He has to rob jewels from Cop's daughter Jayanthi, but he hesitates to do it. Jayanthi herself offers all the jewels and plays coy, before her father. As the movie proceeds, son, increasingly known as Bettada Kalla is pitted against the father and only one can survive. College goer Karunakaran (Arulnithi) always finds it difficult to adjust with the society that he lives. As a result he is unable to control his anger and often ends up with some trouble. His unpredictable behaviour become a constant worry for his mother and brother. A series of incidents forces him to leave his home town Madurai and as usual ends up in Chennai. Despite scoring high marks in school, he joins a local arts college in the city and stays in hostel from where the trouble begins. Now there is another story which goes parallel. While traveling from Bangalore to Chennai Assistant Commissioner Marimuthu (John Vijay), Inspector Rajendran (Madhu), Sub-Inspector Selvam (Balakrishnan) and Sgt/Head Constable Perumalsamy (Krishnamurthy) witnesses a car accident. When they are about to take the victim (son of Bangalore based business tycoon) to a nearby hospital, they comes across a huge stash of cash. The policemen kills the (half dead) victim and flees to Chennai with the money. Then the sincere police officer Palaniammal (Uma Riyaz Khan) takes up this case. A cluster of lies, ego clash at the hostel and family's ignorance brings innocent Karunakaran into this crime plot. The rest is a racy roller-coaster ride that forms the climax. more»
