One couple, who are happily married, are Tripathi (Sanjeev Kumar) and his wife Mary; the second couple is Geeta (Shabana Azmi) and Vinod (Vinod Mehra), who live in Vinod's mom's house. Peter D'Souza lives in a small town in India. He is an idealistic and honest young man and wants to serve his country by joining the army.
