Amritsar's headstrong lass, Happy, absolutely refuses to marry Bagga, a local politician who is the arranged match her father has found for her. Raja (Daebu Banerji) an orphan and Kajol (Nivedita Tiwari) from a rich family background are students at Dudley College in Mumbai. Incidentally, Raja and Kajol's numbers are paired for the performance but Kajol hesitates. Raja decides not to participate after Kajol's hesitation, but Kajol's sophisticated father, Ranveer Singh (Shaheed Khan), who also participated during his college days is hyped up about Kajol winning the traditional college gold medal. Raja hadn't been to college for days, leaving very little time for preparation.
