Malati (Rati Agnihotri), a young girl from a middle-class family meets Suresh Ray (Mithun Chakraborty), who is the son of a well-known lawyer Dayashankar Ray (Danny Denzongpa). After dating each other for some time, she finds that she is pregnant. When Suresh refuses to marry Malati, and she decides against aborting the baby, her parents throw her out and disown her. Left alone, she decides to take Suresh to court. She is supported in this fight by Shakuntala (Rekha), a lawyer who works for woman's rights, who also has an illegitimate daughter from Dayashankar Ray. The case gets much publicity and public support, and the judge rules in Malati's favor. At this point however, Malati refuses to marry Suresh and decides to raise the child on her own. In the meantime, Shakuntala dies of a heart attack, and Malati promises her to take care of her daughter, and carry on Shakuntala's work. Years later Suresh and his wife (Ranjeeta), now married for some years and still childless, run into Malati again. It turns out that she has been raising her son all by herself, and he has turned out to be a very talented and well-adjusted young boy. more»

Bhadra (Kavya Madhavan) is a nurse who is living with her widowed mother, grandmother and twin sister Bhama, a medical student. Her older brother Achuthankutty (Jagathy Sreekumar) is a politician. Bhadra falls in love with Arun (Indrajith), a doctor who works with her. Arun has a Muslim father and a Hindu mother who agrees to have Bhadra as their daughter in law, but Achuthankutty hates him because his father is a Muslim, causing Arun and Bhadra to break up. Meanwhile, Achuthankutty has troubles with a ruthless businessman and moneylender named Krishnakumar(Dileep) who forces Achuthankutty to sell the family house to him. Bhadra and Bhama are left to be taken care of by their sister-in-law. She meets Krishakumar's sister Sridevi who was paralyzed after the death of their parents. Bhadra was unaware that Krishakumar had a childhood crush on her. Bhadra's life takes a tragic turn when Arun commits suicide, and Bhadra goes into mental shock. Passenger is based on two characters, who never had anything to do with each another, who come into each other's lives. The movie shows the events that follow. He respects the law and always thinks of the welfare of the people around him. His wife Anuradha (Mamta Mohandas) is a bold reporter who works for private news channel Right TV. Maranchara is a small fictitious coastal village. A private company has been awarded rights to mine nuclear fuel from the coast in Maranchar by Home Minister Thomas Chacko (Jagathy Sreekumar). There are a political sex scandal and a legal battle within which Minister Chacko, Nandan Menon, Anuradha Nandan and Thankamma (a local leader) are involved. The plot takes a turn when Anuradha obtains a video clip of the minister collaborating with police and corporates. They plan to kill innocent people occupying land with potential mineral resources. Nandan is kidnapped by gangsters working for the minister to lure Anuradha into returning the video. By sheer coincidence, Sathyanath gets involved. Unlike normal bystanders, he and Driver Nair (Nedumudi Venu) decide to join the couple in the fight to save the people of Maranchara, Nandan Menon, and Anuradha. more»
