The story begins with a pub dance where girls and boys enjoy themselves to the fullest in a much spoilt way which leads to Eve teasing and results in a girl's death. Sangayya (Samudrakani), the assistant commissioner of police, is forced to revoke the case because of Chezhiyan's (Vaibhav) (a rich, spoiled guy) influence. Chezhiyan with his father's Deiva Nayagam (A.L. Azhagappan), a leading politician, would bail them out even if he and his friends commit a murder. Vaibhav falls in love with a girl named Reshma, (Aparna) daughter of a businessman (largely inspired from Vijay Mallya). There are some political dramas that happens before the families agree to their marriage. Sangayya is been used in this political drama. He gets furious after learning this, but his hands are tied by the commissioner of police. When Chezhiyan is mysteriously kidnapped and beaten up by an unknown character, Sangayya starts an investigation. Sangayya solves the case and comes to know that a XI grade student named as Easan is responsible. Easan has a flash-back sequence where his sister Poorani (Abhinaya) is raped by Chezhiyan and his friend Vinoth in a birthday party. Easan's family, not being able to cope with the incident, commits mass suicide by drinking poisoned coffee. Easan survives since he only drinks a bit. He is rushed to the emergency where Poorani's friend Shyamala visits him and reveals who seduced his sister. Due to the strong affection he has for his sister, he decides to take revenge over the convicts. This is revealed to Sangayya by Easan himself, while Deiva Nayagam and his assistant arrive at the scene of investigation and find the dead Chezhiyan. The rest of the climax is how Sangayya saves Easan and himself from Deiva Nayagam and his assistant.

Muniyandi Vilangial Moonramandu

Muniyandi (Bharath), a third year college student and the darling son of Muthumani (Ponvannan) comes across as an average fun-loving guy. Matters become colourful when a demure young daughter, Madumitha (Poorna) of a local bigwig, Ramaiyya gives first preference to the members of his caste. Madumitha makes a coquettish play for all of Muniyandi's friends, but hits it off with him first. Following a heated skirmish in the caste-dominated college elections, the two fall in love. Or so you think. Also part of the mix is Sorimuthu Ayyanar (Vadivelu), who raises some laughs as the local witch-doctor, complete with bells and saffron cloth regalia. But everything goes topsy-turvy when, once Madumitha's marriage is arranged, she turns around and says that she was never in love with Muniyandi in the first place. Furious, the guy thrashes her with his slippers and sets fire to her father's coconut grove. It is little things like these that set this movie slightly apart from others in the same genre; the hero and heroines come across as genuine characters, angry, sad and sorrowful. Madumitha is no slinking pathetic thing either; she gives back as good as she gets. But its time for the caste card to be played again and as Muniyandi discovers the secret behind his brothers death.

Eesa
2009
Love, greed, crime and revenge. These are the basic emotions that constitute the story of Eesa. If you are the type who expects something new every time you watch a film, Eesa is bound to disappoint you big time. Vignesh and Lakshana play the lead pair in the film, supported by Singampuli. They work in Thoothukudi under a wealthy respectable man in the village. But as the story unfolds it comes to light that he is corrupt and wicked within. Lakshana is the one who first stumbles upon the truth and she has to pay for it with her life, but not before passing on the truth to Vignesh in the midst of her final few breaths. It has to be a predictable course from then on, murder in the name of revenge. The script is the biggest flaw in Eesa, a lot more care should have been taken in the writing department. The proceedings get tiresome and irksome very early in the first half and it is a weary wait for the climax, you don t feel interested at any point. However there are a few scenes where one is shaken out of passiveness. Vignesh, unable to accept Lakshana s death keeps her decaying dead body alongside him, talking and singing to her. Such scenes, though not new to Tamil cinema, have been shot well. Vignesh has worked hard, but the results are far below satisfactory, mainly due to the deficient script. His character loses his sanity after Lakshana s death and becomes sort of psychic. The body language in most of those scenes bears striking resemblance to that of Vikram s character in Pithamagan. The director must have been alive to this situation. Eesa is a poorly made film with the shoddy script being the main culprit. With the foundation being shaky, there is little that could be done by the other elements to salvage the movie.
