Brahmhdutt (Dilip Kumar), Premchand (Shafi Inamdar) and Mushtaq Ali Khan (Anupam Kher) have been the closest of friends. Against his wishes, Brahmhdutt's daughter Sonu marries a poor man Indrajeet Sabharwal, who is already married to Radhika and has a son Vijay, from the latter. Vijay takes off from home and grows up to be a dreaded Don in the city (Govinda). Indrajeet is given the post of a manager in a steel factory owned by Brahmhdutt and Premchand. Indrajeet first exterminates Premchand and indicts Brahmhdutt for the murder. Brahmhdutt is packed off to prison. Indrajeet now takes charge of Brahmhdutt's business empire and throws the latter's wife Sujata on to the streets. Not satisfied with the ill-gotten wealth, Indrajeet now wants to marry Premchand's only daughter and legal heiress Mohini (Madhuri Dixit) in order to usurp more wealth, but when she spurns him, he hires Vijay to wipe out her existence, little knowing that they are in love with each other. Brahmhdutt, in the meantime, completes his term in jail and on release sets about to reform Vijay. Vijay joins hands with Brahmhdutt and together, they begin a battle for supreme righteousness and avenge the crimes committed by Indrajeet. more»

Six young couples in different situations, face different quandaries. All their problems are apparently caused by love, too much, too little, love for the wrong people, love for people who don't want it, unrequited love, amnesia-afflicted love and what have you. Each of the 6 stories is moderately developed, the most believable being the Hindu-Muslim couple - the Ashutosh-Tehzeeb story. Then there is the starlet hungry to make it big, hatching up a publicity stunt which backfires - the Kkamini-Rahul deal. The third pair is that of Stephanie-Raju pair, she searching for her faithless Indian boyfriend and the Indian taxi-driver who ferries her around the country. And then there is the Shiven-Gia yuppie marriage fiasco, with the groom with the cold-feet. The fifth story is of the stable married couple - Vinay-Seema, whose 15 year marriage is threatened when the husband wants more than just boring, suburban life. The sixth couple's story is of Isha-Sohail as a rural couple unable to give vent to their passion. The film runs through these six stories almost in parallel, taking us to their respective conclusions. more»
